Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
