The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
