Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the incident made him speechless and required to be resolved promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
